What these columns mean

Icon: design

Design

The published design number. This is what belongs in the specification and what the authority having jurisdiction reviews.

Icon: ceiling layers

Ceiling layers

The number of layers of gypsum board the design requires on the ceiling below. This runs the entire ceiling plane on every level, so it is a real line item on a repeating floor plate. We publish it rather than bury it.

Icon: UL listed

UL Listed

A full assembly test has been performed and the design is published by UL with the panel named in it.

Icon: engineering judgment

Engineering judgment

A testing laboratory has issued a written professional opinion extending a tested assembly to a closely related condition. Engineering judgments are widely accepted, and some authorities having jurisdiction review them differently than a listing. We will tell you which one you are working with, every time. The judgment letter is available through design assist.

Do not see your condition?

Send us the framing type, the required rating, and the span. If we have a qualifying design we will name it. If we do not, we will say so rather than send you a data sheet and let you find out during review. We also have assemblies in active testing, and we can tell you what is coming and when.
