DragonBoard InfernoBloc Underlayment

A magnesium oxide underlayment panel that reaches a one hour fire resistance rated floor assembly over an existing wood structural deck, without a poured gypsum underlayment.

The rated floor without the pour

When the structural deck is already plywood or OSB and the assembly still has to carry a one hour rating, the usual answer is a poured gypsum underlayment. That answer brings a specialized crew, a pump truck, a cure window, and a weather dependency onto a schedule that has none of those problems anywhere else. InfernoBloc installs dry with the crew on site, at two and a half pounds per square foot, and the next trade follows the same day.

Assemblies

This panel is named in the following published fire rated floor and ceiling assembly.

  • UL L587, System No. 27. One hour. Wood truss at 24 inch on center. One layer of ceiling gypsum.

L587 requires a single layer of ceiling gypsum. On a repeating floor plate, the second layer runs the full ceiling plane on every level, so a single layer design is a real difference in a takeoff.
